Detroit Lions vs. Tennessee Titans: Preview and Predictions

The Tennessee Titans are already 0-2, and whatever playoff hopes they had at preseason's end are dwindling fast. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions are recovering from a nationally televised trip to the woodshed at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. What will these teams bring to the table in this Week 3 skirmish?

Detroit's strength lies obviously in passing downfield. You don't need to have the greatest receiver in the NFL today to be a great passing team, but it helps. Calvin Johnson will draw defenders away from other receivers in the passing game, allowing Matthew Stafford to find Nate Burleson and Brandon Pettigrew for sizable gains.

The Titans want to do just the opposite and keep the game close enough long enough to establish an attack on the ground. Tennessee hasn't been able to put Chris Johnson into high gear yet, and the Titans will need to do that if they want to keep this game respectable. The team is already recovering from injuries with Jake Locker (non-throwing shoulder) and Javon Ringer (elbow), and 0-3 is a tough row to hoe for any NFL team.
