The Mariners have not used Hector Noesi in their starting rotation since July 4, when he lost his 11th game of the season, a result that greased his demotion to AAA Tacoma. The Mariners hoped at the time that Noesi could work out his problems while pitching for the Rainiers, but not much good happened for Noesi, as he went 2-6, 5.74 in 11 starts. Wanting to give Noesi another look, the Mariners recalled him last week, had him pitch a couple of innings of relief, and will send him out Monday to begin a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles. Noesi is taking Kevin Millwood's turn in the rotation. Millwood, ailing with a stiff shoulder, might be done for the season.
