It’s been a rough start to the 2012 season for the B1G, although that doesn’t change the fact that this conference has some of the game’s finest rivalries.
Rivalry games are huge, especially in college sports. Regardless of how your season has gone, there’s always that one game that you have to win. Fans care about it, coaches want it more than they lead on (unless you’re Ohio State and Michigan—then you know how bad that want it), and the players talk about it always.
These aren’t just some of the nation’s most well known teams going head to head; there’s history here.
Teams have been playing one another for more than 100 years; trophies have been lost (literally, they’ve had to replace a few); and individual games mean much, much more to some than others.
You know the Big Ten’s best rivalry, but as for the rest of them, you might be surprised.
