Well, it looks like there is plenty of news coming out of WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view.

Last night, John Cena, the cornerstone of WWErevealed on his official Twitter account that he suffered a ankle injury during his thrilling main event with WWE Champion CM Punk. Cena accompanied his post with a picture of his badly swollen left foot.

Cena mentions that he sustained the injury early on in the 30-minute bout, but continued to work through it. As Mike Johnson over at PWI correctly notes, this is "a hell of a testament" to his professionalism as a performer and worker.

Indeed, looking at how tremendous the match ended up being, it's nothing short of amazing. An action-packed bout with thrilling exchanges and several sensational near-falls, all in front of a red-hot Boston crowd, CM Punk vs. John Cena was truly the bout of the night (maybe even the year).

Nothing has yet emerged about the severity of the injury, so we'll have to wait and see if it leads to Cena missing any in-ring time. Certainly, as the company suffers through lukewarm ratings, the last thing they need is to lose their undisputed top star for a prolonged period of time.
