SAN DIEGO — Nearly 16 months after undergoing elbow surgery, Jorge De La Rosa is on the brink of pitching in the big leagues this season. De La Rosa started in Class-A Modesto’s loss Saturday, which knocked the Nuts out of the playoffs, working five innings and allowing three earned runs on 71 pitches. The left-hander will join the Rockies in San Francisco. If his health checks out, he is expected to start, possibly Thursday in San Francisco if he stays on regular rest.
