Steve Spurrier knows that he’s “putting all of our eggs in” Stephen Garcia’s basket this year. With no other experienced quarterback, the ol’ ballcoach may have to actually stick with one quarterback in 2009 (and if you believe that, I’ve got some ocean front property in the Smoky Mountains for sale).
Garcia is just one of the topics Spurrier covers in a new interview with ESPN’s Chris Low.
He also touches on Tim Tebow: “Tebow just sorts of wills it, runs it, throws it, whatever it takes.”
And Lane Kiffin: “I don’t need to get into all that. People say I used to talk a lot. I guess any time you win a whole bunch, you talk more than guys who don’t win a whole bunch.”
You can read Mr. Low’s full column right here, in which it’s also revealed that Spurrier intends to incorporate more spread offense plays into this offense to take advantage of Garcia’s mobility.
The Gamecocks open spring practice today.
