In a shocking incident, the bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team came under heavy firing and reportedly some Sri Lankan players and possibly a few cops have been left injured.

The incident happened in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. The Sri Lankan team is touring Pakistan for a set of tests and ODIs, and Lahore was the venue for the second test match between the two sides.

The convoy was making its way to the stadium this morning for the third day's play when the attack happened. The gunmen fired heavily at the team bus, leaving four to five players hurt. All the injured have been taken to the hospital, however the extent of all the injuries is not yet clear.

Due to security concerns, many teams had previously cancelled their tours to Pakistan. An incident like this is only going to confirm those doubts. The volatile and dangerous situation there means that more teams will be unwilling to go there, and with good reason.

The fate of the remaining tour is uncertain. At this stage everyone is just hoping that none of the injuries are serious.
