Adam Kennedy Punishes Cards

Sure the games don’t count, but it’s baseball, and when the Cardinals lose, it sucks.  We sat around all winter watching lesser sports, pondering the Redbirds next offseason move.  The front office didn’t really do anything exciting, until the day they told second baseman Adam Kennedy to hit the road.

Today, Kennedy and his new team, the American League Champion Tampa Bay Devil Rays, were in Jupiter to face the Cardinals in early Grapefruit League play.  The Cardinals lost the game 8-5, but the real knife in the ass was that Kennedy helped beat his former team with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.  Here’s the complete box score.

Alden Gonzalez has more on Kennedy, and his attempt to make the Rays roster. The latest from Matthew Leach reveals more from about Kennedy’s release from the Cardinals.

With today’s loss, the Cards have a record of 3-2-1 so far this spring.  Tomorrow they’ll be in Port St. Lucie to face the Mets.
