WWE: Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler Passes out on Commentary During Raw
A scary incident took place on Monday Night Raw in Montreal when announcer Jerry "The King" Lawler passed out during a match and was rushed out of the arena.
Michael Cole made a chilling announcement minutes later that Lawler was stretchered out from the commentary. Cole stressed this was not part of the night's entertainment.
I was pleased Cole clarified this because Lawler had been an active part of a story with CM Punk as he wrestled earlier in the broadcast.
Lawler, 62, has been a regular part of WWE's commentary team since 1994.
At 10:39 p.m. EDT, Michael Cole announced Lawler had been taken to a local hospital where he is receiving oxygen and is breathing.
This came after an uncomfortable amount of minutes of silence with no narration to the show from Cole.
Lawler has always been looked at by fans as a special performer for his age. In his 60s, Lawler has always looked and performed at a level more relative to someone 20 years younger.
He's gone on record as saying he has never drank in his life and doesn't do drugs. The addictions that have consumed Lawler's life is professional wrestling.
We at Bleacher Report send our best wishes to Jerry Lawler and his health.
We'll continue to bring you information as it becomes available.
