It's Championship Week! The Atlantic Sun will get only one team in this year's Big Dance, and the conference tournament kicks off in Nashville, Tenn., on March 4.
Not every team makes it to the A-Sun tournament though. The bottom four squads are left out of the seven-team tournament.
On Wed., No. 2 East Tennessee State (20-10, 14-6 A-Sun) faces No. 7 Stetson (13-16, 9-11) at 9:30 p.m. ETSU won at Stetson 73-67 back in Jan., but the Hatters took down the Buccaneers on the road 64-63.
Thursday's games feature the 3/6 and 4/5 match-ups.
At 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, the No. 3 Belmont Bruins (18-11, 14-6 A-Sun) will do battle with the No. 6 Mercer Bears (17-14, 11-9 A-Sun). Both teams split the season series, with both teams winning at home. Expect a close one between these two. Both games were decided by four and six points, respectively.
At 9:30 p.m., the No. 4 Lipscomb Bison (16-13, 12-8 A-Sun) face the No. 5 Campbell Camels (14-15, 11-9 A-Sun). Both teams won their games on the road in the series. While Lipscomb lost by one at home, they won by 16 at Campbell.
Jacksonville (17-12, 15-5), the top-seed in the A-Sun, receives the first-round bye in the A-Sun Tournament. They defeated the Bruins in the season finale to gain the top spot.
Belmont won last year's conference tournament. If they can escape their first-round game, the game against possible No. 2 ETSU may be for the conference championship.
Jacksonville has one less game to play, which could go to their advantage if upsets are to occur on their side of the bracket.
