Duke basketball fans: Get ready for an insane infusion of elite-level talent!
Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff have hit on another big-time recruit. They received word over the weekend that Semi Ojeleye, ESPN.com's 38th-ranked player from the Class of 2013, is headed to Durham.
ESPN's scouting report on Ojeleye says:
He's a strong bodied wing and a good athlete. Good skills and he's a good shooter with his feet set to 22 feet. Solid 3-point shooter. Semi is a terrific rebounder for his size.
Better yet...watch him in action.
Ojeleye's decision is Duke's second from a 2013 Top 50 player.
Matt Jones, the No. 33 player in the country, has already committed to become a Blue Devil after he graduates next spring.
With Ojeleye and Jones, Coach K gets two uber-athletic players who can score points in bunches from the perimeter.
The Blue Devils also have 6'8" Mississippi State transfer Rodney Hood on campus this year. Hood proved himself in his one year at MSU, being named to the SEC All-Freshmen team.
Do the signings of Ojeleye, Jones and Hood make it more likely that Duke will secure the commitment of Julius Randle, the top power forward prospect in the Class of 2013?
Yes, it does.
Krzyzewski doesn't need much recruiting assistance from anybody. Coach K and his staff have pulled in, over the years, no less than 52 McDonald's All-Americans.
Matt Jones is Randle's travel teammate, which doesn't guarantee anything, but they may talk about playing together more in college.
And now that Ojeleye has committed to Duke, he too may change from high-level prospect to low-key recruiter for his future team.
