While all the talk had centered around Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy at the 2012 BMW Championship, Phil Mickelson made sure his name would be heard before Moving Day’s end.

Lefty surged into contention with 10 birdies on the day, including one on the 18th to cap a stellar round. He finished with an a 64 to take a share of the lead and a spot in the final group.

Singh has been able to ward off a herd of opposing golfers to finish tied up with Mickelson; his putter was on point for most of the day despite big misses to hold the sole hard on the 16th and 18th. The Big Fijiian will join Lefty in the final group at Crooked Nest.

McIlroy and Woods still hover within striking distance of the lead, finishing both two-under and one-under, respectively.

Woods tweaked his knee early in his round which caused concern early, but he battled through the back nine to be three strokes back.

Other notable names among the leaders include Adam Scott, who finished with a 66 to vault himself into third place. Dustin Johnson also joins Scott at -14 and only three strokes out of the lead.

Mickelson threw his hat into the ring during Moving Day, but his KPMG Twitter account thinks the hat is exactly what led him to a masterful third-round score.

Norm MacDonald has been a must-follow for golf fans during this tournament. He provides a flurry of play-by-play tweets throughout the day to keep those golf fans informed while they take their kids for ice cream.
