The 2012 NBA Draft will provide plenty of worthy nominees, but only a select few stars will shine bright enough to win these prestigious rookie awards.
NBA assistant editors Ethan Norof and Joel C. Cordes cast their votes for five categories of rookie contributors:
"The Man" award goes to the guy who was drafted to be the franchise superstar and won't disappoint.
"The Wingman" trophy belongs to the player who will fill the perfect sidekick role along an already-established star.
"The Atlas" award goes to the rookie who carries the weight of an entire team on his shoulders. He might be capable of delivering on the enormous expectations, but the pressure is enormous.
'The Handyman" title goes to the utility player who will provide a little bit of help in nearly every category.
Finally, the "Wait and See" award is for the player who may fly under the radar in 2012-13, but who also has the enormous potential and great developmental situation to be a major force in a very short time.
