The Auburn Tigers and Mississippi State Bulldogs have concluded in Starkville, Ms.
The Bulldogs pull off their first conference opening win since the 1999 season, defeating Auburn 28-10. The Bulldogs took advantage of a number of turnovers by the Auburn offense, and Tyler Russell had a career day.
Russell finished the game 20-of-29 for 222 yards and three touchdowns. The Bulldogs added 168 yards on the ground.
Kiehl Frazier showed a lot of youth and a need to settle in this game. Frazier turned the ball over five times in the contest, finishing 13-of-22 for 125 yards and three interceptions. Frazier also fumbled the ball twice.
Auburn finished with only 222 total yards of offense. Mississippi State finished with 390 yards of total offense.

The Auburn Tigers have lost to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Auburn looked horrid consistently throughout the game, unable to make plays offensively.
The Mississippi State team looked complete and dangerous on both sides of the ball. Tyler Russell seems to have a bright future ahead leading this Bulldogs offense.

After what looked to be a promising drive developing for Auburn, Kiehl Frazier put the ball on the ground at the end of a scramble and turns the ball over to the Bulldogs.

Auburn forces a punt from the Bulldogs and will take over just past their own 20-yard line. Auburn needs to salvage some type of confidence here. Getting just a field goal would work wonders for the teams confidence.

Frazier is making really bad timing decisions, handing the game to the Bulldogs. Auburn has to find a new strategy to make Frazier more successful.

The Auburn offense is showing some growth, but it is likely too late. Kiehl Frazier made a big throw to Emory Blake for a big completion. This game will be a marker for future growth.
Auburn is looking terrible on defense now. When the offense can not move the ball, the defense pays. The Tigers missed five tackles on that rushing touchdown. Auburn needs to get back to the basics.
This has been a very surprising turn of events considering the Tigers' game against Clemson. Auburn has a long way to go before it returns to competitive play inside the SEC.

Auburn is forced to punt the ball away again. Another three and out for the Tigers offense. Auburn is not getting much done on the offensive side of the ball and it is going to kill the defense.
Mississippi State is doing a great job stopping the Tigers and reading the plays. The Bulldogs continue control of the game, taking the punt just short of the 50-yard line.
Auburn is giving a lot of space in the middle of the field and Tyler Russell is eating up the yardage.
It led to a big touchdown throw from Russell, giving the Bulldogs the lead again in the game.

Onterio McCalebb makes a huge break in the return game. He took the opening half kickoff to the house, giving the Tigers the lead 10-7 heading out of the blocks.
McCalebb is one of the fastest players in the country and proved it on that run. Big break for the Tigers.
Auburn entered half with -2 passing yards on the game. Kiehl Frazier has missed keys in the passing game and has force two throws that have gone for interceptions.
The Tigers have found success on the ground, mounting 67 rushing yards, but are only averaging 2.8 yards per carry.
The Auburn defense has been much improved over a week ago, but they can't carry the win for the Tigers in this one.
The Bulldogs have been very strong through the air with Tyler Russell going 12-of-17 for 116 yards so far in the game. They have struggled on the ground only averaging 2.9 yards per carry and totaling 41 yards on the ground.
Mississippi State has the lead and the momentum as the game heads out of half.

Corey Lemonier gets a huge sack to stop the Bulldogs drive. Auburn can not continue to play this badly on offense. The defense is finally catching on, but they need some breathers from the Auburn offense.
It appears the game is heading into half with Auburn snagging the ball after halftime. The Tigers have to make a better stand if they want to win this game.
The Bulldogs are doing everything they need to do to win the game. They need more offensive production, but they are controlling this game.
I take back my previous statement. Frazier is looking terrible. Really bad decisions being made right now. Bulldogs ball after a big pick.
Kiehl Frazier is making plays with his feet, he just can't find guys open down field. This Bulldogs defense is very strong in the secondary and it is showing.
This is a key third down for the Tigers.
Mississippi State attempts a field goal and it's blocked. The Tigers need some life in this drive. Maybe they will get some pep in their step offensively.
Looking at the interception, Frazier needs better pass protection. No time to let routes develop.
