CAA Tournament Seedings

Next Friday, the CAA Men's Basketball Championship will tip-off at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va. The seeds were determined following yesterday's regular season finales. Here are seeds from top-to-bottom.

2. George Mason Patriots (20-9, 13-5 CAA)
3. Northeastern Huskies (18-11, 12-6 CAA)
4. Old Dominion Monarchs (20-9, 12-6 CAA)
5. Hofstra Pride (20-10, 11-7 CAA)
6. Drexel Dragons (15-13, 10-8 CAA)
7. James Madison Dukes (18-13, 9-9 CAA)
8. Georgia State Panthers (11-19, 8-10 CAA)
9. Delaware Blue Hens (13-18, 6-12 CAA)
10. William & Mary Tribe (10-19, 5-13 CAA)
11. Towson Tigers (10-21, 5-13 CAA)
12. North Carolina-Wilmington (7-24, 3-13 CAA)

On Friday, the No. 8 Georgia State Panthers meet the No. 9 Delaware Blue Hens at 12 p.m. to open tournament play. The teams split the season series with both teams winning on their home court. Delaware won in Newark 60-48, while the Panthers won 70-67 in Atlanta.

The No. 5 Hofstra Pride will face the No. 12 UNCW Seahawks at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Hofstra won both meeting. In Wilmington, the Pride won 80-78 and they held off the Seahawks 88-81 in overtime to end the regular season.

The No. 7 JMU Dukes will face the No. 10 William & Mary Tribe at 6 p.m. to begin session two of the tournament. In the regular season, the Dukes won both meetings, a 74-65 victory in Williamsburg and a 76-67 win in Harrisonburg.

The final game in Friday's action pits the No. 6 Drexel Dragons against the No. 11 Towson Tigers at 8:30 p.m. Drexel swept the Tigers in the regular season. Drexel won 60-53 in Towson and 76-65 in Philadelphia.

On Saturday, the No. 1 VCU Rams will face the winner of the Georgia State/Delaware game at 12 p.m. VCU went 3-1 against these teams, with the only loss coming at Delaware, a 81-79 defeat on Jan. 3.

The No. 4 ODU Monarchs will face the winner of the Hofstra/UNCW game at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs swept the Seahawks but fell in the only contest to Hofstra 60-51 in Hempstead, NY.

Saturday's night-cap begins with the defending CAA Champions, the No. 2 George Mason Patriots facing off against the winner of the JMU/W&M game. Mason won their only meeting against the Tribe in Williamsburg, while splitting with the Dukes. The 68-66 defeat in Harrisonburg was the first loss to JMU in over five years.

The quarterfinals wrap up with the No. 3 Northeastern Huskies battling the Drexel/Towson winner. The Huskies won in their sole meeting with the Tigers and Drexel and NU split the season series, with both teams picking up wins on the road.

The semi-finals will take place at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday and the championship game will be at 7 p.m. on Monday night and will be on ESPN. The winner secures the automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament.
