Promising News for the Mets Regarding Johan Santana

Phil HoopsCorrespondent IMarch 1, 2009

During today’s broadcast of the Mets vs. Astros game on WPIX, Kevin Burkhardt announced that Johan Santana will no longer be traveling back to New York for an MRI.

A combination of Santana feeling healthy after his bullpen session and the harsh winter weather projected to hit the Northeast factored into the team’s position.

Rather than returning to New York, Santana will remain with the team, where the Mets will monitor how his arm feels.

Certainly, this news will allow Mets' fans to breathe easier at night. However, it is still important to keep an eye on this situation to make sure Santana suffers no further setbacks.
