For as long as I can remember I have loved college football.
I love everything about game day. I love the atmosphere, I love the excitement, I love the tailgating, and I love pageantry, I love the electricity in the air.
There is one thing that I do not love that I want to get off my chest.
I do not love sitting behind a couple of women at a big game and listening them talk about shopping, clothes, kids, or where they plan to go and eat after the game.
I do not love knowing that they really do not understand the game or even care who is winning.
I do not love the fact that they are occupying seats that could be occupied by real football fans.
The truth is most women attend college football games because they just want to get out of the house, or want to see how all the other women are dressing this year.
They are there just because their husband is there and if the truth be told, they are more interested in the halftime show than the game itself.
These women spend all week buying clothes and trying to decide what to wear because they think a college football game is just a chance to wear a new outfit or show off those new shoes they just bought.
Take a good hard look at the woman in the picture above. Do you believe she came to watch the game, or do you believe she came to be watched herself?
Now, I know there are some exceptions to the rule, but lets face it ladies, most of you do not know the difference between a safety and a touchback.
I know what you are going to say, I have a right to be there just like you do.
Really?
I spend every moment of my free time following my team, do you?
I know every players name and number, hometown, position on the depth chart, and their importance to the team, do you?
I know every team on our schedule and what threat the pose to our team chances for success this year, do you?
I have sat through boiling heat, cold rain, snow and even a tornado warning and didn't budge, did you?
Listen, this is nothing personal, I just think that seat you are in should be occupied by someone who will contribute to my teams chances to win the game.
I sat at a game a few years back and listened to two women in front discuss a television show as our team was making a last minute attempt to win the game. Time was running out and we were trying to stop our opponent with a last minute goal line stand.
I am sure some of you ladies are saying a last minute what?
The rest of the crowd was yelling as loud as they could to disrupt the other teams offense and these two ladies were looking at each other and discussing some show they saw on Lifetime Channel, unbelievable!
They even acted annoyed because I was yelling so loud?
That team ended up scoring a touchdown and we lost the game. I left wondering how many other seats were occupied by these sort of dead weight fans?
Those seats should have been occupied by fans that were there to help our team win, not someone who just wanted to be there to see what everyone was wearing and to chit chat about movies.
I thought about all the real football fans that would have giving anything just to be sitting in those seats at that particular game.
So I ask you, are you one of these dead weight fans? Do you deserve your seat at the big game?
