To be honest, this game and Marquette's season lost a lot of it's luster Wednesday Night in Marquette's game and loss to UConn. Not only did Marquette drop the game pretty handily and Guard Dominic James early in the contest, the doctor's report came back as bad as possible for the Golden Eagles and James is gone for the season and of course any post season which should include a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
The Golden Eagles had good reason to not just think about making to the dance, but to bringing home the title. A win over UConn would have got them very close to a No. 1 seed, and with a good performance in this game and then the Big East Tournament, who knows what would have happened.
Rick Pitino is going to go down as one of the greatest coaches of all time. The way Pitino's Louisville Cardinal team is ranked 6th in the country and sports a 22-5 record, Pitino is just having another year of cementing his legacy on the game.
It seems we seldom hear Louisville talked about with the UConn's and Pittsburgh's of the Big East and perhaps comes from the fact the Cards lost to the Huskies straight up. Louisville is 13-2 in the conference this year and has won their last four games pretty convincingly.
