It’s been a long time since we could say it, but Scott Kazmir got that elusive victory he’s been looking for.
Facing the Bridgeport Bluefish for the third time this year, Kazmir finally got his win and hopefully silenced some of the critics that have written him off.
In what was his most dominant performance in years, Kazmir held the Bluefish to one run and two hits over eight innings. What is even more impressive is the one walk to go along with three strikeouts.
Kazmir’s stay in Sugar Land has been anything but pretty, but there has been an obvious improvement in his numbers. Sure, there have been some awful outings, including an eight-walk performance a couple starts back, but he continues to get on the rubber and strive for improvement.
With the end of the MLB season nearing, there are going to be some teams looking for that extra starter or that extra reliever for the stretch run they’re about to embark on. If he continues on this path, we may see Kazmir back in the Show sooner than later.
One win in an Independent league may not seem like much, but to many, this could be one of the biggest wins of Kazmir’s career.
