College Football Locks for Week 1

0 of 6

There are 54 college football games scheduled for today.

Finally, it's here. That time of year that makes grown men act like kids at Christmas, and sees sales on hot wings quadruple for three months.

The picks on this list are absolute locks to win their contests.

No questions, no worries no doubt, the teams picked here will win, and in most cases, win big.

Marshall at West Viriginia Noon

1 of 6

As much as I like Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato, the poor guy and his team are in trouble this week.

The Thundering Herd has never beat the Mountaineers, and today is going to be no different.

West Virginia's Tavon Austin averaged more than a first down every time he touched the ball in 2011, and coupled with fellow receiver, Stedman Bailey, this offense is as potent as they come.

WVU quarterback Geno Smith is going to get a great start to his Heisman campaign today.

    Prediction: WVU - 57 Marshall - 20

UNI at Wisconsin, 3:30, BTN

2 of 6

The Badgers are primed for another great season on the heels of consecutive Big Ten titles.

There are still some questions to be answered at quarterback, as well as defensive line and wide receiver.

None of those are going to be answered today, as the Badgers' third string team would run Northern Iowa into the ground.

With the starters on the field, UW will easily hit 45 points.

    Prediction: Badgers - 54 UNI - 13

Murray State at Florida State 6:00 ESPN3

3 of 6

Murray State is in for a rude welcome to Tallahassee.

The Seminoles' defense is out to prove last season was a fluke, and they are prepared for a run at the BCS title.

That's a negative thing for Murray State, as Bjoern Werner and Brandon Jenkins are going to be pinning back their ears and wreaking havoc in the backfield all day long from their defensive end positions.

If this one is within 50 points, it will be surprising.

    Prediction: FSU - 70 Murray State - 9

Hawai'i at USC, 7:30 Fox

4 of 6

The Trojans' quest to return to post season glory begins today against the Warriors.

While there is enough pressure heaped on Lane Kiffin's squad to cause all kinds of problems, they won't experience any today.

Norm Chow takes over as head coach at Hawaii, and will have plenty of talent to put up a few points during this game, but the Warriors just don't have the guns to hang with Matt Barkley, Silas Redd, Robert Woods and the rest of the Trojans' offense.

    Prediction: SC - 57 Hawai'i - 20

Oklahoma at UTEP, 10:30 PM

5 of 6

Landry Jones has designs on a Heisman in his final season at Oklahoma, and he has the talent to make a serious run at the award.

But will the rest of the team be able to match him?

That remains the question for Bob Stoops' team.

The Sooners kick off the season with a trip to El Paso to face the Miners tonight, in a game that should not feature a whole lot of drama, no matter who is healthy for the Sooners.

With Dominique Whaley set to return to the field, and Jones at the helm, this game will be a rout.

    Prediction: OU - 57 UTEP - 13

Weber State at Fresno State, 10:00 PM

6 of 6

There are plenty of cupcakes ready to get hammered today.

LSU, Georgia, Texas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State are all locks to pound their opponents into submission.

But we already have six of those kind of picks, so let's move on to Fresno State.

This offense is going to be excellent, with Derek Carr at the helm, and Robbie Rouse toting the rock.

Weber State is not exactly known for their football prowess, and while Fresno State is not exactly BCS material this season, they will have no difficulty dispatching Weber State with some flair.

    Predition: Fresno State - 45 Weber State - 3
