Chiefs Get Matt Cassel AND Mike Vrabel in Deal With Pats

Tony ArnoldineCorrespondent IFebruary 28, 2009

Sports Illustrated's Peter King is reporting that yesterday's deal that sent Mike Vrabel from the Patriots to the Chiefs for the 34th pick in this year's draft will also include QB Matt Cassel.

It's a great move for Kansas City. The team gives up only a second-round pick and acquires a locker room leader in Vrabel and a quarterback in Cassel who has proven he can start in the NFL.

The only downside for the Chiefs is the $14.6 million salary Cassel will command after being franchise tagged by New England, but my guess is Kansas City will be working on an extension.
