Valencia probably deserved a draw there. Not Barca's best display, and Los Che were better side in second period— Paul Macdonald (@PaulMacdGoal) September 2, 2012
Full Time: Barcelona 1-0 Valencia (Adriano 23') A good encouraging performance at the Nou Camp, Valencia only beaten by a wonder strike.— ValenciaInEnglish (@VCFInEnglish) September 2, 2012
Man of the Match for me though is Alexis Sanchez, never stops, skillful, creative just lacking a goal tonight— Ben Crump (@BenCrump84) September 2, 2012
That's it, folks. The referee has blown the whistle and called time on this one.
Valencia fought hard, but a lone goal from Adriano proved enough to give his team the win.
89'—Chance for Valencia!
Wow, big miss from Viera!
Mascherano is beaten on the corner and Viera has a chance to level, but he sends his effort over the bar.
That may be the last chance for Los Che.
Sergio Busquets comes on for Barcelona as Alexis Sanchez goes off.
Bit of a defensive move from Vilanova. He now has Xavi, Busquets, and Song in midfield as Iniesta will move forward.
Let's see if Bara will miss that added attacking threat in the closing minutes.
Nelson Valdez comes on for Feghouli as Valencia look for an equalizer with 8 minutes left.— ValenciaInEnglish (@VCFInEnglish) September 2, 2012
Nelson Valdez comes on for Feghouli as Pellegrino looks to add more bite to the attack.
Is a late equalizer in order?
Messi's free kick amounts to nothing and Valencia try a quick counter that is closed down quickly by Barcelona.
80'—Foul Adil Rami
Alex Song dispossesses Los Che and gives Barcelona a great chance on the counter.
Lio Messi makes a great run through the middle and forces Rami to commit foul on the Argentinian to save a goal-scoring chance.
Free kick Barcelona.
Andres Guardado is sacrificed for Jonathan Viera while David Albelda makes way for Fernando Gago.
During the free kick, Macherano takes the ball on the nose and is down for a minute, but is fine.
Two changes made for Valencia.
74'—Free kick Valencia
Los Che get a deep free kick after Jordi Alba fouls Feghouli out wide.
The hosts are knocking on the door here. They use some great passing to get out of danger on the back before making the most of a great counter.
Alexis and Pedro use some nice dribbling to make a few chances, but it amounts to nothing before Valencia send the ball the other way.
Xavi draws cheers from the crowd as he uses some fancy footwork on the touch line to get the ball round a defender and out of danger.
Sorry, I had missed a foul call on David Albelda for protesting. The midfielder goes into the books with a yellow card.
Barcelona make their second change of the night as Andres Iniesta comes on for Fabregas.
Fab has not had a great game and continues to struggle to find form. Perhaps the international break will set him right.
Ruiz just offiside as he puts a Tino free kick in the net, VCF have started the 2nd half well. 59' gone, 1-0.— ValenciaInEnglish (@VCFInEnglish) September 2, 2012
