The Detroit Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford got his share of national recognition after a sensational 2011 season. He passed for over 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns and won the NFL's Comeback Player of the year award.
Now it's clear that he's finally arrived.
He has his own commercial.
ESPN decided to feature Stafford in their latest ad for Monday Night Football, and it's a good one. The commercial shows off Stafford's comedic side while building excitement for the NFC North battle that's sure to come.
For Lions fans, it's about time their quarterback gets his due from the world-wide leader. He's still ranked too low by many of the network's talking heads, but featuring him in a promo for their biggest show is a step in the right direction.
Calvin Johnson might be the face of the Lions franchise, but Stafford is a close second. This ad might be the first of many that Stafford stars in, if he puts up similar numbers as last year.
Who knows, the cover of a certain NFL video game might be the next step in Stafford's rise to national prominence.
