Danny Briere Activated, Claude Giroux Sent Back To Phantoms

Chris DiFrancescoAnalyst IFebruary 28, 2009

Danny Briere is officially back in the lineup for the Philadelphia Flyers. As announced this afternoon, Briere was taken off the IR and will be in the lineup tomorrow when the Flyers take on Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils.

The problem with all of this, Claude Giroux was sent down to the Phantoms along with Lasse Kukkonen. Giroux, 21, has four goals and seven assists for 11 points and 12 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Flyers this season. In 32 games with the Phantoms, he has 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points and 22 penalty minutes.

While its good to have Briere finally back in the lineup. Its going to be a hard pill to swallow that Giroux wont be back up until at least Kimmo Timonen returns to the lineup.

The Flyers play the Devils tomorrow in New Jersey. Martin Biron will get the start between the pipes.
