Scott Speed Wins the Pole in His Nationwide Debut

Scott Speed had a missile for an engine in the No. 99 Red Bull Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota. In the first practice he had the second fastest car and in the second practice session he was the 25th fastest.

Speed, making his debut at Vegas, turned a lap of 185.451 MPH, setting a track record, and won his second career pole in NASCAR.

Kevin Harvick starts on the outside pole with a time of 182.377 MPH, in the No. 33 Rheem Tankless Water Heaters Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevrolet.

Greg Biffle starts third, with Joe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin starts fourth and "Rowdy" Busch starts fifth.

Steven Wallace starts sixth, Carl Edwards starts seventh, Brad Keselowski starts eighth, Mike Bliss starts ninth and Brian Vickers starts 10th.

Other notables drivers were: Justin Allgaier starts in 11th, David Ragan 12th, Brendan Gaughan 13th, Dale Earnhardt Jr. 15th, Jason Leffler 23rd, and Jason Keller 26th.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers also qualified for their race; Dennis Setzer starts 21st and Terry Cook starts 22nd.
