Derrick Brooks to New England?

Matt ConstantCorrespondent IFebruary 28, 2009

Could it happen?

The Pats have already brought in veteran running back Fred Taylor, so why not Brooks?

Brooks was released recently by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has said that he is not ready to retire yet, but depending on how free agency unfolds, Brooks may have to face reality sooner than he would like.

Brooks, who is turning 36 soon, has said he would like to see what offers teams make him before he decides to hang the towel up or not.

The Patriots have veteran linebackers, and if they do not get what they want in the draft then they could use his veteran leadership as well.

Last year, Derrick Brooks had 77 tackles, one FF, and one INT.

Could he come to the Patriots?
