Illinois State lost their shot at the Missouri Valley Conference title with a 67-69 loss to Northern Iowa on Tuesday. The game was tight all the way and went two overtimes before it finally was settled with an Adam Koch tip in with 1 second left on the clock.
Now that they are locked into a third place finish, all that is left for the Red Birds in the regular season is to play spoiler.
Creighton beat last place Missouri State 65-59 on Tuesday to keep their conference title hopes alive.
The win brings the Blue Jays winning streak to nine with this final home game left to close out the regular season. Creighton’s first game against Illinois State was a 64-86 defeat way back on January 3rd.
