Trouble for Proposed Kentucky Lasix Rule in Committee Vote
A legislative committee vote on Monday signaled possible trouble for Gov. Steve Beshear’s effort to make Kentucky the first state to ban giving horses anti-bleeding medications on days they race in top stakes races.
The committee overwhelmingly rejected a proposal that, while not directly related to the ban, would have restricted use of drugs that are often given in combination with the anti-bleeding medication furosemide, which is better known by its old brand name of Lasix.
