HBO Hard Knocks: Jets, Panthers and More Teams That Show Should Target in 2013
HBO’s Hard Knocks is must-watch television for football fans, but it’s tough for casual viewers to get into a candid, behind-the-scenes show without entertaining personalities on board.
It seems that the brains behind the program attempted to target a lively team in the Miami Dolphins but were let down for a number of reasons, and the ‘Phins were simply disappointing—especially after the release of celebrity WR Chad Johnson (which was completely warranted considering the allegations against him).
Another reason why it’s hard to get invested in this Hard Knocks campaign is because it’s highly unlikely that Miami makes the postseason. The Dolphins are a middle-of-the-road team at best in 2012.
If HBO is going to continue this show, it needs to find some more interesting franchises that have a real chance at making the playoffs.
Let’s take a look at a few that would fit the bill in 2013.
Would you want to see the Panthers on 'Hard Knocks'?
It’s widely expected that Carolina will make the leap and contend for the playoffs in 2012, but the franchise is bound to be a true powerhouse in 2013.
With QB Cam Newton and head coach Ron Rivera as the centerpieces, Hard Knocks would take off next offseason.
These entertaining personalities are putting together a unique offense—a variation of the traditional wishbone—and rebuilding their defense to complement the team.
It would be awesome to see them perfect it in the next season of HBO’s behind-the-scenes show.
The Jets were already on the show in 2010, but it was one of the most entertaining Hard Knocks seasons ever filmed.
Controversies and humor would run rampant if Gang Green were back on the small screen.
This would be the Holy Grail for NFL junkies. Never before has coach Bill Belichick consented to giving out such sensitive information and allowed cameras exclusive, in-depth looks at how he operates during training camp.
Considering his unparalleled success in the league, everyone would tune in to see just how Belichick does it.
It also helps that celebrities, such as Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, are on the roster and would make Hard Knocks absolute must-see TV.
It's become clear that HBO could have chosen a better team for 2012, but there is plenty of time to fix that and find a new squad to follow next season. Who would you want to see on Hard Knocks in 2013? Drop a line in the comments section.
