Breaking News: Danny Briere, Kimmo Timonen Out Against Montreal

Chris DiFrancescoAnalyst IFebruary 27, 2009

This has just reached my attention. Daniel Briere will not be making his long-awaited return tonight against the Montreal Canadians. The reason is quite simple: "He's not ready."

Coach John Stevens commented on both players' status.

"I think Briere is getting real close here, and we'll get him back on the ice tomorrow in a structured practice and hopefully get him in on Sunday," said Stevens.

"Kimmo felt better today. He got pushed a little bit and he needs to get pushed a little bit tomorrow along with Danny. Hopefully both those guys are in our lineup over the weekend."

Timonen will miss his third straight game with the flu. Forward Glen Metropolit and defensemen Ossi Vaananen were both claimed off waivers by the Canadiens and Canucks, respectively.
