Remember last year's Auburn fiasco, the spread offense? Well, that ended up spreading Auburn's wins out to other teams across the SEC and spreading both offensive coordinator Tony Franklin and head coach Tommy Tuberville to different unemployment offices.

Here's this year's trainwreck you can see coming around the bend. Chizik has turned over the reigns of the offense to this year's guru Gus Malzahn, and he has devised an offense that will make linemen do more work with less rest.

That may be a good plan, but Auburn has very thin ranks on the offensive line and only managed to get two offensive linemen signed up this spring. They only have 10 on the whole roster, or about the same number as Nick Saban signed just a month ago in one recruiting class to go along with the other dozen already there.

So, with few reserves and no experience in this offense, Auburn sets out to enact the most grueling offense imaginable for any set of offensive linemen.

Please, honey, get the kids far away from the tracks around Auburn.

This offense will virtually give linemen no time to rest between plays. So how is Auburn going to pull this off?

"We're going to run and work our offensive linemen further and harder than any other team," said Jeff Grimes, assistant head coach and offensive line coach.

"They're going to have to recover physically and mentally very quickly," he added.

The same quick mental recovery should also be hoped for this Auburn coaching staff.  Last year's train wreck could just be a practice session for this season with this kind of thinking. If I were to advise Auburn fans this year, I would say, "Don't take the train."
