Fred Taylor: No. 16 All-Time Overall Rusher Heading to New England

Matt ConstantCorrespondent IFebruary 27, 2009

Since the Jaguars released Fred Taylor a few weeks ago, he has been busy looking for his new team. Luckily for the Patriots, it's them.

Fred Taylor is 16th overall on the NFL rushing list, so hopefully this will add more depth to a running corp that has lacked intensity in the past few seasons.

Taylor will compete with Maroney, Green-Ellis, and a few others for carries. This is a great move for the Patriots because of the following reasons:

1. He is a pro-bowl caliber player who has a good two-three seasons left in him.

2. He is one of the most underrated running backs in the history of the NFL.

3. He will want to face his old team (Jaguars) when the Patriots play a home game, so that will add to his will to be starter.

4. He is a team player and could be a leader and mentor for the younger members of the team.

Lastly, Fred Taylor is an amazing player. The Jaguars should have never released him. This is a decision they will regret for a long time.
