The 132nd U.S. Open will be played from August 27 through September 9. Television coverage will be split between the Tennis Channel, ESPN2, CBS and the CBS Sports Network.

This year's tournament offers a host of intriguing storylines. On the men's side, Roger Federer will attempt to prove that his recent run is a true comeback and not solely a product of his supremacy on grass, Novak Djokovic seeks to retain his U.S. Open crown, and the rest of the field will hope to capitalize on Rafael Nadal's injury to break the stranglehold on Grand Slam titles held by the Big Three.

On the women's side, Serena Williams hopes to continue her climb back to the No. 1 ranking, Maria Sharapova is seeking to add another title to her career Grand Slam, and the rest of the top players will seek to end the parity on the women's side and establish who is the best young competitor in the sport.

Though the first week of the U.S. Open understandably draws less attention than the second, the draw has set up several interesting possible matches that are well worth watching, and American tennis fans will not have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to watch live coverage of the matches as they did at the French Open, Wimbledon, and Olympics.
