Bank of America did a smart thing in this tough economy and backed out of a $20 million per year deal for premium signage at the new Yankee Stadium. BoA had recently been given bailout money by the federal government, and it would have been foolish and outlandish for them to continue with the agreement with the Yankees under those circumstances.
It doesn't bother the Mets and CitiGroup, though.
CitiGroup has been begging for more bailout money each day, but still promises to go through with the $20 million per year naming rights to Citi Field, despite backlash from taxpayers, basically giving a giant middle finger to everyone.
Nice work, Mets.
