It's full time at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea take the points to move to the top of the Premier League, having played a game more due to their duties in the European Super Cup next Friday. Hazard, again, the inspiration for Chelsea, with Torres proving he is getting close to returning to his very best as well. A very promising start to the season for the Blues indeed.
FT Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle
94'— Newcastle launch one final attack, with Ba attempting to release Cisse, who appears to be in on goal, but the ball skids out of play.
92'— There are four added minutes at the Bridge, but expect a few more due to David Luiz's injury. Chelsea are heading to the top of the Premier League tonight and Di Matteo will be delighted with the start the Blues have made to the new season. It's raining heavily now and it is becoming tough for the players to keep possession for more than five or six passes.
90'— The game has fizzled out somewhat, with Newcastle running out of ideas. Play is halted once again with David Luiz suffering a bad head injury. He is wrapped up and looks to be fine, a tremendous addition to the Premier League since January.
87'— CHELSEA SUBSTITUTION
Frank Lampard replaces Meireles, who has been efficient today, without being spectacular. Lampard joins the action to huge cheers.
86'— Crunching tackle from Perch on Hazard, which seems to be the only way to stop Chelsea's new wizard, after three magnificent displays to start the season.
83'— Ryan Taylor's end product is better there though, heading down to Demba Ba, who swipes wildly at first, but gets a second chance, rushing the finish and passing in to Cech's hands from 12 yards out. What a miss from Ba, Chelsea fortunate to still lead by two there.
82'— Ryan Taylor is the most threatening outlet for Newcastle, but his delivery has been poor on the several occasions that Newcastle have found him on the overlap.
79'— Brilliant from Hazard, again. He is some talent, as the Belgium drifts past the Toon defenders once again, his pass is cut out, but Bertrand latches on to the loose ball and drives towards the goal, before firing in a fierce shot that Krul does well to smother around the post.
76'— NEWCASTLE SUBSTITUTION
James Perch replaces Yohan Cabaye, an odd substitution at first glance, but the Frenchman seems to have taken a knock and cannot continue.
75'— Another free-kick for Chelsea, about 25 yards from goal, but it's the same outcome as before. Raul Meireles, this time, fires harmlessly over. The Blues appear happy to settle for 2-0 here.
73'— NEWCASTLE SUBSTITUTION
Sylvain Marveaux comes on for Davide Santon, the Frenchman will provide more penetration to the Toon. The former Rennes star can dangerous from distance with his shooting.
67'— CHELSEA SUBSTITUTION
Ramires comes on for Chelsea, replacing Juan Mata, which should make the Blues less vulnerable to an adventurous Newcastle.
67'— David Luiz spurns a good chance from a free-kick, firing wildly over from about 25 yards out.
66'— Newcastle should be level, Taylor swings in a brilliant cross and Cisse is unmarked, but the Senegalese heads over. Big miss for Newcastle there.
63'— NEWCASTLE SUBSTITUTION
Danny Simpson is off and Ryan Taylor replaces him. A threat from set-pieces awaits Chelsea.
60'— Chelsea pick up the loose ball and Cole finds Mata in behind the Newcastle defence and his driven cross is cleared away well by Gutierrez. The Blues are now reacting well to Newcastle's early dominance of this second half.
59'— Finally some Chelsea pressure in this second half. Torres is set free by Meireles and drives to the penalty area pasta Anita, before using a clever rabona style flick to cross in to the area, he's got his confidence back.
57'— It's Newcastle again, with Cabaye striking a shot from distance, that Cahill does well to block, but Ba is there to pick up the pieces and turns well to strike hard at goal, but it's straight at Cech. Pressure is mounting from the Toon though.
52'— Newcastle are taking control of possession here and create a couple of half chances. First it's Gutierrez with a wayward effort from range, before Cisse has a long-range header sail harmlessly over the bar. Better from the visitors though.
50'— It's Newcastle who create the first opening of the second half as Ben Arfa crafts an chance by cutting inside from the left, before darting back out and firing a yard wide of Cech's post.
47'— A quiet start to the second half with Newcastle assuming control, but their neat and tidy possession is not amounting to much just yet.
