SEC Football Weekly Recruiting Roundup: Texas A&M Secures Cameron Echols-Luper

Texas A&M secured the commitment of Cameron Echols-Luper, a 3-star athlete from Auburn (Ala.) High School. Echols-Luper plays quarterback in high school, but the 6'0", 190-pounder has 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash, which will allow him to play multiple positions at the next level. He is the stepson of Auburn running backs coach/recruiting coordinator Curtis Luper. He chose the Aggies over TCU.

Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has offensive line help coming to Starkville in 2013 in the form of 6'5", 300-pound offensive tackle Jake Thomas. Thomas is a native of nearby Columbus, Miss., and is rated as the No. 16 offensive tackle prospect in the country by Thomas chose the Bulldogs over offers from Ole Miss and Southern Miss.

Arkansas got good news this week when Tevin Beanum, a 6'4", 233-pound defensive end from Forest City, Ark., committed to play for the Razorbacks in 2013. Beanum possesses 4.6 speed in the 40-yard dash, but is relatively unknown in recruiting circles. He chose the Hogs over offers from Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Harding University and Ouachita Baptist University.

Vanderbilt stayed hot on the recruiting trail with the commitment of Jay Woods, a 6'3", 275-pound defensive tackle from Jackson (Ga.) High School. Woods is a 4-star prospect in the composite, and chose the Commodores over SEC offers from Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Texas A&M.


News and Rumors

A Georgia fan got into hot water after reportedly calling College of the Sequoias defensive back Steven Nelson, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Seriously, leave the recruiting to the recruiters, people.

Reuben Foster, the 5-star linebacker prospect who recently flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn, will see some friendly faces before his high school season kicks off. According to the Opelika-Auburn (Ala.) News, Foster's old High School, Troup County (Ga.) High School, will cross the border and scrimmage his Auburn High School team in Auburn, Ala. this Thursday.

Josh Outlaw, a 4-star offensive lineman from Lithonia, Ga., decommitted from the Florida Gators this week according to It was the fourth decommitment the Gators have had this month.
