Texas A&M secured the commitment of Cameron Echols-Luper, a 3-star athlete from Auburn (Ala.) High School. Echols-Luper plays quarterback in high school, but the 6'0", 190-pounder has 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash, which will allow him to play multiple positions at the next level. He is the stepson of Auburn running backs coach/recruiting coordinator Curtis Luper. He chose the Aggies over TCU.
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has offensive line help coming to Starkville in 2013 in the form of 6'5", 300-pound offensive tackle Jake Thomas. Thomas is a native of nearby Columbus, Miss., and is rated as the No. 16 offensive tackle prospect in the country by 247Sports.com. Thomas chose the Bulldogs over offers from Ole Miss and Southern Miss.
Arkansas got good news this week when Tevin Beanum, a 6'4", 233-pound defensive end from Forest City, Ark., committed to play for the Razorbacks in 2013. Beanum possesses 4.6 speed in the 40-yard dash, but is relatively unknown in recruiting circles. He chose the Hogs over offers from Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Harding University and Ouachita Baptist University.
Vanderbilt stayed hot on the recruiting trail with the commitment of Jay Woods, a 6'3", 275-pound defensive tackle from Jackson (Ga.) High School.
