I'm certainly not going to start out this article by promising that Kobe Bryant will win the MVP this season. LeBron James has also had a great season, and is in the running. However, I believe that Kobe is the front-runner.
Not only is he mainly responsible for the Lakers' success this season, but he has finally learned to pass the ball, instead of shooting every play. He is passing whenever another teammate has a better look at the basket, and shooting the ball when his team needs him to.
It is very odd how the best player in the world has yet to win an MVP.
Isn't the MVP voting supposed to go to the,"Best player on the best team?" Is there any doubt that the Lakers are possibly the best team in the NBA? And that Kobe is the best player on the Lakers?
The MVP race right now:
1. Kobe Bryant
2. LeBron James
3. Chris Paul
4. Tracy McGrady
5. Manu Ginobli
Please leave a comment on who YOU think should win the MVP.

I gotta say that you lose some credibility by your profile picture - a Lakers logo.
And I think that the MVP should go to LeBron, simply because he is a better all-around player, albeit on a weaker team.

I do not agree your point. You think LeBron should get the MVP. If this gonna be true, Kobe should have won two MVP of Regular Season.

kobe is definitely the better all around player. lebron plays in the east and on the everything-through-lebron system.

there should'nt even be a debate on who should win the MVP by far Kobe Bryant is the best player to set foot on a court after the great Michael Jordan. yes lebron is a good player but no he isnt a great player. Kobe hasnt yet won an MVP cos people believe the team wasnt winning enough matches and how do you put in a name like lebron when his team is situated 10th at the moment and has no crediable player in the team seriously who in the cavs is an half desent player i'll tell u knowone. It will be a great relieve when i see headlines this year kobe takes the double, MVP and a championship ring.

But there IS a debate on who should win MVP because the Cavs don't win without Lebron. Seriously, THEY DON'T WIN...PERIOD. So, Lebron is technically the MOST VALUABLE. Unfortunately, the definition of the award has been screwed up since day 1, and numerous undeserving players have won over the years (ahem, Karl Malone). The Lakers could win without Kobe seeing as how they swiped Gasol for next to nothing and still have a solid all-around player in Lamar Odom. How many games would the Cavs win without James? Would they reach double digits? You gotta wonder. I think you could make the argument that James is GREAT. He's a kid compared to Kobe and most of the NBA and he's already flirting with averaging a triple double in the near future. What makes Kobe MVP over Lebron (or even Paul)? We're going to reward him for bitching the first couple months of the season? The Lakers ink Gasol and somehow that makes Kobe the MVP? Why not Gasol for MVP? He's the one who completely changed the scenery after all. Kobe has gotta be second or third in the race and definitely is a far second to MJ. I'm insulted you even mentioned Kobe and MJ in the same post. Anyone who makes that mistake has completely forgotten how superior Jordan was.

the mvp doesn't go to the "best player on the best team" it goes to they guy who is the most VALUABLE player on a team, when the lakers were winning everything under the sun, kobe didn't win the mvp because of the fact that he shared the load with shaq and wasn't more VALUABLE to his team than other players were, that is why i think that lebron should be mvp, the cavs would be nowhere without him, although kobe is a better all around player (as i apparently recently learned)

Don't get me wrong, but isn't this same Kobe who hated his team and threatened to leave it behind if Lakers don't get Jason Kidd? I feel like Kobe owe a very big apology to everyone in Lakers organization for not believing in his teammates. If it wasn't Paul Gasol steal, I don't think he would have elevated his game to MVP level like he is playing now. I love Kobe's game but I think giving MVP to him will taint the meaning of MVP. I mean, without Gasol steal, uh deal, I don't think we will hear the same MVP chants for Kobe, which for me makes it phony MVP. True MVP should be given to Chris Paul for taking his team on his back and made it his team and stuck with it since the day 1 whether you have another all star or not.

Hey im one of the biggest KObe fan out there. But i dont think he will win it. With Gasol's injury, I see the Lakers going on a mini losing streak. And that will Kill kobe's chance at MVP. Right now, I might say T-mac or CP3 might end up being the MVP.

kobe's been hearing mvp talks for 3 years now, and even b4 gasol came this season he was leading the lakers to one of the best records in the west. and for the last 3 years the mvp DID go to the best player on the best team, which is why kobe didn't win it even though he was clearly deserving it for the last 2 years (the voters in the media deliberately changed the meaning to try to prevent kobe from winning it). if lebron wins it this year, then kobe should have gotten the last 2

joe, i don't have a problem with lebron winning it this year, but if you agree with that, you're forced to agree that kobe should have won it the last 2 years because the lakers would not have even made the playoffs in the MUCH tougher west without kobe. he did this while making history with his crazy numbers. what lebron is doing this year is nothing new, and is less impressive than the lakers making the playoffs in the west than the cavs making the playoffs in the east

Whoever says Kobe sucks has no undestanding and should not be allowed to post on this forum. I wonder if you watch real basketball.. Kobe saved the league.. if he was not there no one would even care to follow bball. He is a talent that only comes oncea decade .. we should be thankful to be living in this times were we can witness greatness that was once seen during the Jordan era. Even Jordan admitted that he sees a lot of himself in Kobe . Lebron ain't no king .. i will call him king when he improves his free throw percentage to about 80%

Kobe will never be an MVP..ever!...who vote for MVP?..the media right?...well im sure 90% of them hates Kobe.
between LBJ and Kobe?..of course media picks LBJ as MVP
CP3 or Kobe? - CP3
KG or Kobe? - KG
..even if it would be like this..
Smush Parker or Kobe? - definitely they will pick Smush over Kobe for MVP
..this why Kobe will never be MVP

Yes! Just what we all need-another place for people to debate Kobe and LeBron. I swear that this debate is what 90% of the articles on this forum develop into. I don't know about anyone else, but I am certainly tired of reading the same article and the same comments over and over again!
