The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just released five veteran players, including LB Derrick Brooks. The others were Joey Galloway, Ike Hilliard, Warrick Dunn, and Cato June. Now I know the Browns need youthful LBs, considering Andra Davis is past his prime and Willie McGinest is as old as he is, but they should consider Brooks.

In a previous article I said the Browns should trade down in the draft and draft Brian Orakpo, the DE/LB from Texas, but if the Browns managed to sign Brooks, my opinion would change. Kamerion Wimbley starts at ROLB, so Brooks would start opposite him, leaving D'Qwell Jackson in the middle without any help. Drafting Aaron Curry would solidify the Browns' LB corps.

Imagine Wimbley, Jackson, Curry, and Brooks being Cleveland's starting LBs. This is the solution the Browns have been looking for. They need LBs, and this is their chance.  Pittsburgh and Baltimore have two of the best LB corps in the NFL, and they are successful teams. The Browns should look to get some of the best on their defense as well.

Shaun Rogers, Corey Williams, and Robaire Smith should round out the D-line, and combined with the LBs mentioned, the Browns' front seven would be dominating. Also, these moves would keep pressure off the deep backs, making things easier on them.

Free agency is coming up, and I personally would be shocked if Cleveland didn't jump at the opportunity. Signing a LB right away would get Cleveland fans excited and get the team in the right state of mind.
