Just when we all thought Chris Jericho was going to leave WWE on top after winning at last night's SummerSlam, he had to find himself in a Contract vs. Contract match with Dolph Ziggler on Monday Night Raw...

And be promptly Zig Zagged into "unemployment" at the hands of the Showoff.

There was such a reluctance to see Jericho backstage at Raw. It made it seem all but certain that his final image of victory at SummerSlam would be replaced with an epic defeat during the three-hour Raw. Almost like Macbeth but much less dramatic. "Something wicked this way comes."

A spur-of-the-moment decision made by AJ Lee raised the stakes of a rematch between the two with Jericho's WWE contract on the line against Ziggler's Money In The Bank contract. The type of stipulations many wanted from the SummerSlam match last night or from a subsequent pay-per-view, but in reality, it only spelled wicked foreshadowing for Jericho with his tour with Fozzy coming up soon.

Thinking of the two possible outcomes, it seemed unlikely for Jericho to win Ziggler's future title shot. Damn near impossible really. Time and time again the MIB contract has come to symbolize whose "time" it is in WWE. Whose "time" it is to run with one of the major belts.

Clearly that is Ziggler, which meant Jericho was going to have to do the job. And that he did... clean.

But instead of hanging his head low and leaving without incident, Jericho promptly clobbered Ziggler with the briefcase and delivered one last Codebreaker to his generational successor.

Where Triple H repeatedly said "I'm sorry" as he left the ring at SummerSlam, Jericho more than once said "I'll miss you guys" to the WWE Universe.

I think we'll all miss Chris Jericho.

'Til next time, Y2J...
