Two Big Reasons to Fear The Turtle!

Its been tough being a Maryland Terrapin fan the last few years. After the Terps won the title in 2002, things have just gone south. Although the Terps lost a tough one to Duke last night they have certainly re-inserted themselves on conversation to get in to the NCAA tournament. If the Terps finish the season strong and get in, they could be a dangerous team.

Here's two big reasons to fear the TURTLE.

Greivis Vasquez.

This kid is the truth. He doesn't get all the big hype like other ACC guards, but he certainly deserves it. I have had an opportunity to see him play in person and although his stats weren't eye popping, he led the team was impressive.

He's the emotional core of this team and when he's playing well it inspires the rest of the guys. So if Vasquez is rolling the Terps will be no easy pass for any team in the tournament.

Gary Williams.

Once a Terrapin point guard himself, Gary Williams is one of the most emotional coaches in the game. Not many coaches will throw their arms in there telling the crowd to get into it or cheer with his players, but Williams never hesitates.

Williams has coached 28 NBA players (four lottery picks), and is the university's all time winningest coach. Like Vasquez, his emotions are a big part of the Terps game. When you have two guys who want to win so badly, you've got a formula for success.

So if the Terps are able to finish the season strong and squeeze into the tournament, no team should look forward to playing the red and gold.
