WWE SummerSlam 2012: Bret Hart Gives Props to CM Punk

Gone Baby GoneJun 4, 2018

Prior to Sunday evening, I think it was safe to say few men could rock the pink and black.

In fact, only one wrestler was synonymous with that attire, and no one outside of the Hart family dare duplicated it. That was until current WWE champ CM Punk took to the ring at SummerSlam in his latest attire.

Punk not only caught the eye of the WWE Universe, but the originator Bret "The Hitman" Hart. As we all know, Hart is a WWE Hall of Famer and a legend in this business. So, for him to take time to comment on the current product is a huge deal.

CM Punk took to Twitter after his match with the following:

"

"

I can only assume Hart said this to Punk in person, as Hart's Twitter account has no mention of the compliment.

Even with this compliment, it appears the WWE still isn't confident enough to close the show with CM Punk as WWE champion. Sadly, Punk hasn't wrestled a traditional close of show main-event match all year.

It appeared that would all change at SummerSlam, considering John Cena was one of his opponents. Whatever the case, Punk has solidified himself as a true champion and will probably carry the torch at least until the new year.

In the end, even without closing the show, Punk's matches and storylines are very riveting and leave you wanting more. Hopefully, the WWE will start seeing this and allow him his true spot as WWE champ.
