Part of the fun of fantasy football is making up a stupid team name. Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin believes there are parallels between football and the world he created. New York fans should be happy to know that the Giants—as the "heroes" of the NFL—get the honor of being the Stark family.

If you want a fun team name that confuses your friends who don't have HBO or read fantasy, I have some options for you that may be worth considering.

Here is the Game of Thrones edition of how to best name your fantasy football team.

NFL Team Names

The first option is to go with the name of your favorite (or least favorite) team. Here are a few options for team names, ranging from pretty obvious to a little bit obscure:

The Patriots of Casterly Rock

The Dothraki Broncos

The Tennessee Tywins

Tyrion and the Giants

The Wolf and the Lions

In the Game of Football, Eagles Win or They Fly

Khaleesi's Colts and the Luck of Ygritte

Winter is Coming, Saints Will Fall

The Mance Raiders

Buccaneers of the Narrow Sea

The Davos Seahawks

Current Players and Coaches

Current players and coaches make for perhaps the biggest set of options. Some players have names that just scream Game of Thrones, while some others require a little more thought:

House McCoy

Guy Whimper Fell

We All Know the Imp Loves Rex

The Targaryens Lost it in Tebow Time

Terrell Owens Always Pays His Debts

Roddy and the White Walkers

Joe McKnight's Watch

Ser Gio Brown

Mitch King in the North

Always a Starks in Lambeau

Eli Manning the Wall

House Tulloch

The Dire Wolfert

Mark (Secretly Loras Tyrell) Sanchez

A Khalif Who Cannot Pass-Block is No Khalif

Hall of Famers

Lastly, Hall of Famers and all-time greats make a timeless option for naming your Thrones-based team. Here are a few options, ranging from people you will definitely know to a few you might have forgotten:

A Song of Rice and Favre

Johnny Unitas the Seven Kingdoms

Curtis R. R. Martin

Grand Maester Parcells

Warren Mountains of the Moon

Emilia Clarke Always Shows Her Y. A. Tittle

Marshall Faulk of Essos

Harold Red Waste Grange

The Dragon's Gregg of the Forrest
