TNA Wrestling: Did Impact! See an Increase in Viewership?
After dropping to low levels in both ratings and viewership last week, TNA was able to find some momentum this week.
With the Hardcore Justice pay-per-view over, TNA is beginning to intensify its Bound For Glory Series matches and the impact of Aces and Eights.
Fortunately for TNA Wrestling, after another quality episode this past Thursday night, Impact! was able to rebound with seeing an increase in viewership (via TV By the Numbers).
On Thursday night, August. 16, Impact! Wrestling had a total of 1.45 million viewers, seeing an increase from last week. Impact! also scored a 0.5 share in adults 18-49. The show was able to move higher on the Top 50 Cable Television rankings.
What does September mean for TNA Impact! Wrestling?
September will be a very huge month for TNA because of the extended live shows. After an increase in both ratings and viewership, TNA needed some momentum carrying into September. With two more live shows in August, Impact! Wrestling will hope to find better results.
Going live has done one very important thing for TNA. It has improved their product dramatically. This past week's episode could be used as a very good example on just how well they are doing being live instead of a taped environment. The wrestling matches have become more exciting, storylines have developed nicely and the show as a whole has been smooth to watch.
September is a crucial month for TNA because it gives them one final push to possibly extending its live series. Although it may not be necessary after Bound For Glory because of a tough fall television market, TNA has done some of its finest shows in company history in 2012 this summer. September could be a deciding month on whether Impact! Wrestling will remain live.
My final thoughts on TNA seeing a spike in viewership:
I was glad to see that Impact! Wrestling saw a positive climb in viewership. Thursday nights have suddenly gotten exciting again. Although TNA will see a tough fall cable television lineup, especially with the NFL coming into a new season, Impact! Wrestling has all the ability to keep viewership steady by continuing to produce quality episodes.
Perhaps next week will carry new momentum for Impact! Wrestling.
