After a summer filled with speculation, Clint Dempsey has officially requested a transfer away from Fulham. After early summer interest, Liverpool needs to make a move to secure Dempsey and bring the American to Anfield.
Fulham manager Martin Jol confirmed both that Dempsey wishes to leave the club and that the club is willing to sell after a long battle of trying to convince Dempsey to stay with Fulham.

With Dempsey now likely finally on the move, many teams could be interested in his services. A move to Liverpool would go against Dempsey's desires to play Champions League football this season, but Liverpool is competing in Europa League competition.
Liverpool would benefit greatly from having Dempsey play up top. Dempsey can play multiple positions because of his versatility and general football knowledge. His knack for scoring goals would be a huge boost for the club that only scored 47 goals in the Premier League last season.
The initial reported fee of £10 million is definitely within a reasonable price-range for Liverpool. They have the cash to make the move as long as Fulham doesn't make a transfer impossible with unreasonable fees.
An attacking front of Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Dempsey and and Fabio Borini could be quite potent for Liverpool. The team needs to create more goals, and Dempsey's addition will be a big part of that.
Dempsey will surely get interest from other teams in the Premier League and likely outside as well. With two weeks left in the transfer window, Liverpool will need to act quickly in order to ensure they don't miss out on their long-standing target.
Signing Dempsey would not only be a good move on the pitch for Liverpool, but in terms of growing the Liverpool brand. As a key member of the U.S. Men's National Team, Dempsey would bring a ton of American support to Liverpool. Owned by American-operated Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool would surely be interested in this.
Signing Dempsey would be a big addition to Liverpool as they try to get back into the top teams in the league. With Fulham finally realizing they need to sell, Liverpool needs to move swiftly and get a transfer done.
