It’s been rough sledding for the “Yes Man” turned “No Man” Daniel Bryan recently, but his luck is about to change.
There is no conceivable way Bryan could lose to Kane at SummerSlam on Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Bryan has been one of the biggest pleasant surprises within the company in 2012. His above-average mic work and unbelievable ring skills are put on full display. This guy has "star" written all over him and the WWE knows it.
He's hands down the best technical wrestler within the WWE and this talent hasn’t been fully utilized recently. The creative team has been hung up on the whole AJ storyline and it’s taking away from his luster. Having him absolutely demolish a formidable opponent like Kane in the second-biggest PPV event of the year is the perfect opportunity to remind fans of his abilities.
Kane is merely a pawn in the eyes of the company. He’s a veteran that’s been around for seemingly forever, but has been relegated to a second-tier star. He still lands top-tier matches, but no longer wins them.
There are no storylines of note right now with Kane; and unless AJ starts flirting with him again, he has no real direction following this match.
Bryan, on the other hand, needs a convincing win to assure the WWE Universe that he is indeed a capable World Title contender. He needs a big win to reaffirm fans’ beliefs after suffering mental and physical setbacks against the likes of AJ and CM Punk of late.
Bryan has the potential to be one of the headliners of a PPV event someday soon. He just needs a few more matches against wrestlers like Kane to slowly rise to the top.
