The San Francisco 49ers' shocking run to the NFC Championship Game last season has made them a trendy pick to win the Super Bowl in 2012. But after only one year of success, are the Red and Gold really the best team in football?

If you are looking at all the aspects that make up an NFL team, no squad in the league is as dominant in as many categories as San Francisco.

The 49ers boast an elite defense, stellar special teams, and a deep and effective running game, and they have the reigning coach of the year in Jim Harbaugh.

Where San Francisco falls short is at quarterback, since even after a career year, Alex Smith is still a clear notch below the game’s elite signal-callers.

Recent Super Bowl history has shown that you can’t win it all without a stud under center, which is why Bleacher Report NFL Editor Evan Adrian argues that the best team in the NFL resides in New England.

With an explosive offense, a young and improving defense, and a Hall of Fame coach-QB combo, the Patriots appear poised to make another run at bringing home some hardware.

Check out the video above to see me and Evan square off over who is tops in the NFL right now, and sound off over whom you side with in the comments section below.
