True freshmen no longer carry the same “can’t play ‘em” stigma they once did. Some of these young men are truly gifted, and while they lack experience in their first year on campus, they are simply too good to keep off the field.

While many freshmen will get serious playing time, only a select few will have impacts that stretch beyond what we’re accustomed to seeing. Much of this depends on where a team is in terms of personnel and where there might be openings on the depth chart, but the elite will always find their way into the lineup.
