Just remember, everybody. One day, the Robin van Persie saga will end.

Tuesday's twist is this. According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has personally called Arsene Wenger in an effort to expedite van Persie's transfer from Arsenal to United.

It is understood the Arsenal manager repeated his insistence to Ferguson the 29-year-old would not be allowed to leave for United for a penny under £30million - but the Gunners will listen to offers starting at £20million with add ons.

Van Persie, 29, led the Premier League with 30 goals last season. He is entering the final year of his contract. Manchester City and Juventus have also been linked to the Dutch striker.

"There was contact between Real and my agent," Dembele told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. "They wanted information, but that was it. Everything is still."

Fulham have received no offers for Dembele, a 25-year-old Belgium international.

Agger Wants to Stay

Danish defender Daniel Agger wants to remain with Liverpool in spite of a reported bid from Manchester City (The Guardian).

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a £20 million offer for the 27-year-old, but new manager Brendan Rodgers has said Agger could be sold if City make a "ridiculous offer."

Agger said: "I'd rather stay. I can't imagine playing for any other club in England, but you never know if the club think it's better to sell me."

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool are lining up Swansea City's Ashley Williams as Agger's replacement.

Wenger: Song Not for Sale

Arsenal midfielder Alex Song is not for sale, according to quotes attributed to manager Arsene Wenger (The Sun).

Song, 24, has been linked with Barcelona. Wenger, however, pointed to the three years left on Song's contract.

Wenger is quoted as saying: “In Spain the newspapers are not really serious. We’ve had the experience of that. We’ve never had any contact with anybody from Barcelona."

Liverpool want Barcelona's Cristian Tello and Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin, according to the Daily Mail.

Tello's contract runs through the end of the season, and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly ready to bid £7 million.

Sahin, meanwhile, has been told he can leave Real after finding first-team opportunities limited. The Turkish midfielder is thought to be available on loan, with Arsenal also interested.
