Does The New Yankee Stadium Sell Beer In The Bleachers?
That has been a question on the minds of many Yankee fans who have been forced to deal with the pain of being thirsty while only being able to afford cheap seats.
For those of us who have searched for that hidden vendor, prayed that the front office had a change of heart, or mostly just snuck alcohol into forbidden places, we hoped that with the new stadium comes a change in policy. Well, I’m sorry, it doesn’t look good for us.
Based on the pocket schedules they gave us today, the following sections will be booze-free:
Sections 201-204 (right field bleachers) and sections 235-239 (left field bleachers).
However … there is a Bleachers Cafe behind center field. I have no idea whether beer will be sold there. The PR guys are going to try and find out.
The sports bar in center field is not accessible via the bleachers, I was told.
While Abraham is holding out hope for the Bleachers Cafe, those of us who knew of the frustration of the bleachers know that there really isn’t much. Looks like you are still going to need your flasks in the outfield.
Update: It turns out there is no reason to be thirsty, as long as you are in the mood to take a walk. According to Newsday, the new stadium will not restrict fans buying bleacher seats to only that section.
So if you get thirsty you can get up and leave the bleachers to buy a beer. You just won’t be allowed to bring it back to your seat with you. This is also an added benefit for fans who frequent the bleachers and want to visit monument park.
