True or False: Tracy Mcgrady has lived up to his hype?

False.

This year's MVP race has boiled down to four of the leagues best, i suppose five if you still consider Kevin Garnett a part of the race.  Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Lebron James, and Tracy McGrady have all had fabulous seasons.  In the past these players have been known for their ability to score at will, take over a game, and accumulate SportsCenter highlights on a nightly basis.  This season has been different, especially for Tracy McGrady.

True or False: Tracy McGrady is the most talented player in the NBA?

False.

McGrady proved to us last year that he cared about winning by shedding tears in the locker room after a heartbreaking Game 7 loss in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs.  A player that has never been out of the first round while having championship expectations should not be satisfied with mediocrity.  Now its time to do something, and McGrady has.

T-Mac, known for his high flying, smooth jumper, and ability to score at will has been his mark on the NBA for the last 10 years.  McGrady has posted a solid 22 points 6 assists and 5 rebounds this season.  While those numbers do not scream most valuable player, they do represent something else.  They represent a superstar that brought a me-first attitude who has changed his game...completely.

We know the Houston Rockets have won their last 20 games.  Possibly 21 with a win tonight against the woeful Bobcats.  But lets face it, aside from McGrady and without Yao Ming, the Rockets are a team of role players.  McGrady has revamped his game to suit them, and it has worked beautifully.

If you have watched T-mac this season, you will have noticed that he no longer forks up tough shots, he no longer feels the need to beat a double team by himself, and he no longer plays as if the world is on his shoulders.  McGrady now lets the game come to him.  The sequence is now beat the man off the dribble drawing the help defense, dishing to Shane Battier for the 3 and the dagger with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter.

So what if he doesn't win scoring titles anymore and throw alley oops to himself.  He is winning, and that's what matters to him and his city.  That's right, i said city.  The Rockets will live and die with what McGrady brings to the table and that's what the biggest quality of an MVP candidate is.  The main question is, can McGrady finally carry a team, a city, and a playoff race on his shoulders?

True or False: If he is able to do the above, Tracy McGrady will be your 2007-2008 NBA Most Valuable Player?

True.
